Job Overview:
The Programme Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the EVAWG (Ending Violence Against Women and Girls) Unit within UN Women. This position involves assisting in the development and implementation of effective programs that align with UN Women’s rules and regulations. The Programme Associate is responsible for providing operational, administrative, financial, and programmatic support, ensuring that the unit's objectives are met efficiently. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including operations, program, and project staff, to facilitate the successful execution of initiatives aimed at eliminating violence against women and girls in Senegal.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative, financial, and logistical support for program formulation and management, including preparing work plans, budgets, and proposals.
  • Offer technical guidance on routine delivery and reporting of program activities and finances.
  • Prepare for audits and implement recommendations.
  • Review program data for reporting purposes.
  • Gather and compile data for documents, guidelines, and speeches.
  • Support financial management by creating projects in the Quantum system, preparing budget revisions, and monitoring program finances.
  • Undertake logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Make travel arrangements for the program team.

  • Assist in resource mobilization efforts by preparing agreements and processing donor information. 1
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and training for staff and partners on program management and operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of program management and the ability to execute administrative processes effectively. They should have excellent skills in data management, document preparation, and financial oversight. Strong IT skills are essential, along with the ability to present information clearly and effectively. Candidates should demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity, as well as possess core competencies such as accountability, creative problem-solving, and effective communication.

Educational Background:
Completion of secondary education is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration considered an asset. This educational background supports the administrative and financial responsibilities of the role, ensuring that the Programme Associate can effectively contribute to the unit's objectives.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, finance, or program management/support. Experience in a computer environment using multiple office software packages is required, along with a proven track record of supporting a team. Familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, particularly Quantum or RMS, is desirable, as it enhances the candidate's ability to manage financial and programmatic tasks efficiently.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the local context. A working knowledge of English and local languages is desirable, as it facilitates better communication with diverse stakeholders and enhances collaboration within the team.
