Job Overview:
The Reporting Officer position is crucial for supporting all Operational Information Management (OIM) and Reporting activities within WFP. The role involves contributing to the establishment and presentation of a standard operating picture of the WFP program portfolio and associated results. This is essential for facilitating informed and timely decision-making at all levels of the organization. The Reporting Officer will work closely with staff to ensure adherence to standard OIM and PR procedures, driving quality, consistency, and standardization in information management and performance reporting across WFP. The position requires collating relevant information and data from various sources to enhance the exchange of information and data flow, thereby providing operational awareness of events that may impact humanitarian efforts. The Reporting Officer will also support the preparation of the Annual Corporate Report (ACR) and collaborate with various internal counterparts to ensure consistency in humanitarian information, enhancing the capacity of WFP staff and partners in managing operational information effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support staff in the assigned area to ensure adherence to standard OIM & PR procedures and templates, driving quality and consistency in information management and performance reporting across WFP.
  • Collate relevant information and data from media and local internal and external sources to maximize the exchange of information and data flow between functional area networks in WFP.
  • Support the collation and dissemination of political and humanitarian analysis related to WFP’s current or future responses and donor policies.
  • Assist in the collation, analysis, and communication of the ‘Essential Elements of Information’ regarding the operational environment and available resources.
  • Aid in the preparation of the Annual Corporate Report (ACR) for the Annual Reporting Exercise, ensuring coherence and quality of performance information.
  • Collaborate with internal counterparts to ensure consistency in humanitarian information and complement WFP analysis.
  • Support the enhancement of WFP staff and partners' capacity to manage operational information and performance reporting effectively, including scheduling training on core competencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be accepted. Candidates should have a general knowledge of information management best practices and techniques, along with strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and report writing capabilities. Familiarity with UN/WFP specific processes and systems is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Journalism, Business Management, or Social Sciences. A first university degree may be acceptable if accompanied by additional relevant work experience and training. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian operations and information management.

Experience:
Typically, candidates should have at least one year of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field, demonstrating a background and interest in international humanitarian development. This experience is crucial for understanding the operational environment and the challenges faced in humanitarian efforts.

Languages:
Fluency in French (level C) is mandatory for this position, along with intermediate knowledge of English (level B). Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the diverse WFP team and with external partners.
