Job Overview: The internship at the Financing for Sustainable Development Office (FSDO) is designed for individuals interested in gaining practical experience in the field of economic and social development. Interns will work under the supervision of experienced staff members and will be involved in various tasks that support the office's mission. The internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week. Interns may have the opportunity to work remotely, in a hybrid model, or part-time, depending on the needs of the department and the circumstances of the intern. The role involves assisting in research and analysis related to financing for development, contributing to the annual Financing for Sustainable Development Report, and supporting the office's efforts to follow up on international agreements and commitments.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the work of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Financing for Development; attending and summarizing conferences and meetings; providing logistical and administrative support during conferences; conducting economic research; compiling statistics and performing data analysis. Interns are expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, teamwork, and client orientation, as they will be working collaboratively with colleagues and engaging with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet specific criteria, including being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program (Master's or Ph.D.) or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. Applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications and have a field of study related to economics or a similar discipline. While professional work experience is not required, relevant academic background is essential. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of software applications such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, and have the ability to draft articles and design surveys.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a relevant educational background, which can include being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program (Master's or Ph.D.) or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. A field of study in economics or a related area is desirable. Proof of enrollment or completion of the degree program must be provided during the application process.
