Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on Governance and Gender within the context of agriculture and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security in South Sudan. The GIZ South Sudan implements various projects aimed at enhancing agricultural practices, ensuring food security, and promoting good governance and gender equality. The core activities include training small farmers, protecting natural resources, fostering social cohesion, building public structures' capacities, and preventing sexual violence. Due to the tense security situation in South Sudan, these projects are managed remotely from Germany, providing a unique opportunity for direct involvement in project contexts while based in Germany.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will support management and project staff in daily operations, which includes conducting research, preparing for and following up on meetings, documentation, reporting, and planning and executing project activities. You will also assist the monitoring and evaluation team, particularly in data collection, processing, and analysis. Additionally, you will contribute to public relations efforts, which may involve creating factsheets, presentations, images, and managing social media content.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a relevant field of study, at least from the 5th semester onward. Proficiency in German (C2 level) and very good English skills (C1 level) are required. Strong knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with modern communication methods (e.g., MS 365) are essential. Experience in data collection, processing, and analysis, as well as familiarity with GIS applications, is advantageous. Experience in public relations and/or professional use of social media is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a university program, participating in a training program that includes an internship as an integral part, or having graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The internship is designed for students or recent graduates, thus requiring no extensive prior work experience, but familiarity with relevant fields and practical skills in data handling and public relations is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in German at a C2 level is mandatory, along with very good English skills at a C1 level. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.
