Job Overview: The Analyst position within the EBRD Star Venture program is crucial for supporting entrepreneurship in emerging markets. The role involves contributing to all phases of the project cycle, including project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. The Analyst will be responsible for conducting comprehensive due diligence, which encompasses analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, market research, and ensuring compliance with EBRD policies. This position requires a proactive approach to delivering high-quality advisory support to start-ups and local accelerators, while also fostering connections with other early-stage investment activities within the EBRD. The Analyst will work closely with the Operation Leader and senior bankers, gaining valuable experience and progressively taking on more complex tasks as they develop their expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst's duties include working as part of a project team on transactions, conducting thorough research and analysis of market information and financial performance data, and engaging with start-ups and other stakeholders in the start-up ecosystem. Responsibilities also involve evaluating potential risks associated with projects, assisting in business development activities to generate a pipeline of high-quality start-ups, and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in accordance with the Bank's policies. Additionally, the Analyst will monitor project implementation, prepare draft monitoring reports, and assist with donor-funded assignments, contributing to the overall success of the Star Venture program.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and utilize financial models. Project management and organizational skills are critical, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial analysis tools. Excellent writing skills are necessary for drafting project proposals and investment memos, and the ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines is crucial.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, business, or a related field. Professional qualifications in finance or accounting are also advantageous, as they demonstrate a commitment to the field and enhance the candidate's analytical capabilities.
Experience: Relevant professional experience is required, ideally in start-up acceleration, venture capital, investment banking, private equity, or consulting. Candidates should have a strong understanding of start-up ecosystems and venture financing, as well as experience working with start-ups and engaging with key stakeholders in the industry. Familiarity with EBRD’s strategic startup priority areas, such as green economy and fintech, is also desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with good written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in the local language is considered an advantage, as it can facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the Analyst's work.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting for two years. The EBRD promotes a flexible working environment, expecting employees to work in the office 50% of the time.
