Job Overview: The ICLA Technical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) program. This position involves working closely with beneficiaries to provide them with essential information and guidance regarding their legal rights and entitlements. The assistant will be responsible for conducting assessments, providing legal advice, and facilitating access to legal services. The role requires a strong understanding of the legal framework in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. The ICLA Technical Assistant will also collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure the program's objectives are met and that beneficiaries receive the necessary support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments of beneficiaries' legal needs and provide appropriate advice and support.
Assist in the development and implementation of training sessions for beneficiaries on legal rights and entitlements.
Facilitate access to legal services and support beneficiaries in navigating the legal system.
Maintain accurate records of beneficiary interactions and program activities.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery.
Participate in community outreach activities to raise awareness about the ICLA program.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program and provide feedback for improvement.
Prepare reports on program activities and outcomes as required.
Stay updated on changes in the legal framework and relevant policies affecting beneficiaries.
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of legal principles and frameworks, particularly in the context of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Educational Background: A degree in law, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in legal assistance or human rights will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with vulnerable populations and knowledge of the legal system in the Democratic Republic of Congo is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the region is also beneficial.
