Job Overview: The Technical Protection Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the protection of individuals and communities at risk. This position involves working closely with various stakeholders to assess protection needs, develop strategies, and implement programs that address the vulnerabilities of affected populations. The assistant will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to protection issues, facilitating community engagement, and ensuring that protection principles are integrated into all aspects of program implementation. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct regular assessments to identify protection needs and risks within the community.
Develop and implement protection strategies and programs in collaboration with other team members and stakeholders.
Facilitate community engagement activities to raise awareness about protection issues and available services.
Collect and analyze data related to protection incidents and trends to inform program decisions.
Provide support and guidance to community-based protection mechanisms.
Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs, and other partners to enhance protection efforts.
Prepare reports and documentation on protection activities and outcomes.
Participate in training and capacity-building initiatives for staff and community members on protection principles and practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and independently. A solid understanding of protection issues in humanitarian contexts is essential. Candidates should demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage with diverse communities. Proficiency in data collection and analysis is required, along with experience in community mobilization and advocacy.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, human rights, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in protection, humanitarian response, or related areas will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience in protection, humanitarian assistance, or related fields is required. Experience working in conflict-affected areas and familiarity with the local context in the Democratic Republic of Congo is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Bunia area will be advantageous.
