Job Overview:
The Communication Senior Assistant - Social Media will play a crucial role in enhancing the digital presence of Awaaz Afghanistan, a humanitarian helpline that connects affected populations with assistance. The incumbent will be responsible for managing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and ensuring consistent branding in accordance with UNOPS guidelines. This position requires real-time event coverage, promotion of impactful stories, and collaboration with various stakeholders to optimize outreach and engagement. The content produced will primarily be in English, with some materials translated into local languages as necessary, reflecting the organization's commitment to effective communication and community empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Social Media Associate will manage Awaaz/UNOPS's official digital communication channels, which includes planning, content development, publishing, monitoring, and reporting. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing a structured social media content calendar that aligns with Awaaz/UNOPS messaging and events.
- Drafting, editing, and scheduling content across platforms, ensuring clarity and brand alignment.
- Translating technical content into accessible language for diverse audiences.
- Coordinating with internal teams for content development, including gathering updates and stories.
- Producing simple graphics and editing video clips for digital use.
- Managing daily postings and monitoring social media accounts, responding to public inquiries professionally.
- Escalating complex queries to appropriate teams and monitoring misinformation.
- Assisting in planning social media campaigns for events and milestones, including live coverage.
- Tracking performance metrics and analyzing trends to improve engagement and reach.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in social media and marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing, with a secondary degree, or at least 1 year of experience with a bachelor's degree. Proven experience in managing social media strategies for major events is essential, along with a strong understanding of key social media platforms and their audiences. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred, and experience in photography is desirable. Familiarity with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
Completion of secondary education is required, with a bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Arts, Marketing, International Relations, Political Science, or related fields being highly desired. This educational background will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage social media communications and campaigns.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant work experience in social media and digital marketing, with demonstrated responsibility for creating and executing high-impact campaigns. Candidates with a bachelor's degree may qualify with a minimum of 1 year of experience. Experience in the humanitarian or development sector is an asset, as is proficiency in using digital tools for content creation and management.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Additionally, fluency in Pashto or Dari is highly desired, as it will facilitate communication with local populations and enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts.

Additional Notes:
The contract type is Local Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) at level ILICA 5, with an ongoing open-ended duration subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
