Job Overview:

The intern will support the implementation of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP) through sector dialogues facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS). The role involves assisting in the preparation, execution, and documentation of expert events, as well as engaging with stakeholders to enhance understanding and compliance with human rights due diligence requirements in various industries. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to improving human rights conditions in global supply chains while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic and impactful field.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Assisting in the preparation, execution, and documentation of expert events related to business and human rights.
  • Supporting the organization and follow-up of meetings and interactive formats for sector dialogues.
  • Conducting research on relevant topics, stakeholders, and events in the field of human rights and corporate due diligence.
  • Coordinating and managing relationships with members, partners, and service providers involved in the sector dialogues, ensuring effective multi-stakeholder management.
  • Contributing to knowledge management within the office to enhance the effectiveness of the dialogues and initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a strong academic background in fields such as economics, political science, social sciences, or law, or other relevant disciplines. They must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a passion for writing and proven text accuracy. Experience in organizing events, including virtual formats, is essential. Familiarity with sustainable supply chains, sustainability management, and corporate responsibility, particularly in the context of business and human rights, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should exhibit strong teamwork abilities, resilience, a willingness to learn, and an open-minded attitude.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a degree program, engaged in a training program that includes an internship as an integral component, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. This ensures that the intern is actively pursuing relevant academic or professional development while gaining practical experience in the field.

Experience:
The internship is designed for individuals who may have limited professional experience but possess a strong academic foundation and relevant skills. Previous experience in organizing events, conducting research, or working in areas related to sustainability and human rights will be advantageous but is not mandatory. The focus is on candidates who are eager to learn and contribute to the organization's mission.

Languages:
Fluency in both German and English is required for this position, as effective communication with diverse stakeholders is crucial. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
