OCHA is a part of the United Nations Secretariat, which is dedicated to coordinating humanitarian responses to emergencies. The organization aims to mobilize and coordinate effective humanitarian action in partnership with various national and international actors to alleviate human suffering during disasters and emergencies. Job Overview: The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Human Resources Intern will be an integral part of the HR Administration Team, contributing to the administration of benefits and entitlements as well as contract administration for both international and local staff members at OCHA. The intern will report directly to a Human Resources Officer and is expected to engage in various tasks that will provide significant learning opportunities in the field of human resources and the workings of the United Nations. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall functioning of the HR Administration Team. These responsibilities include: 1) Maintaining HR-related automated systems and applications, including databases that contain HR-related information, by sorting, classifying, and uploading relevant documents onto the OCHA HR filing system. 2) Keeping HR-related files and records (both electronic and paper) organized and assisting the HR Officer in conducting initial reviews to ensure the accuracy of these files and records. 3) Conducting periodic follow-ups with staff members to ensure the complete submission of documents related to applications for UN travel documents or other HR-related submissions. 4) Providing general support services, which include processing, drafting, editing, proofreading, and finalizing various correspondence and communications for signature or approval. 5) Scheduling appointments and meetings, as well as monitoring deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks. 6) Initiating and carrying out other assigned tasks or special projects as directed by the HR Officer.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for applicants to the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program or have completed such a program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application.
