Job Overview:
The Economic Affairs Individual Contractor position is designed to support the UNECE's project 'Forum of Mayors: Strengthening capacities of UNECE member States on sustainable urban development, housing and land management.' The contractor will be responsible for delivering specific outputs, including compiling a list of Mayors to invite as speakers and participants for the Forum of Mayors 2025, updating the online platform's content, and documenting the minutes of relevant meetings. This role requires a proactive approach to liaising with stakeholders, assisting in event organization, and supporting communication efforts through various media. The contractor will work under the supervision of Mr. Matyas Kalan, Associate Expert in Economic Affairs, and will be expected to contribute to the overall success of the Forum of Mayors initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Economic Affairs Individual Contractor include: (1) Drafting and sending letters of invitation for the Forum of Mayors, and compiling a comprehensive list of Mayors to be invited as speakers and participants for the 5th meeting of the Forum of Mayors in 2025; (2) Liaising with relevant stakeholders, including UN member States and external partners to ensure effective communication and collaboration; (3) Assisting in the rebuilding of the website and maintaining and updating the content of the online platform for the Forum of Mayors; (4) Assisting in the preparations and organization of meetings for the Forum of Mayors Bureau and the meetings leading up to the Forum of Mayors 2025; (5) Supporting communication efforts by drafting press releases and informational newsletters for participants, particularly local authorities, creating engaging social media posts, articles, and content for the project’s website, and developing interactive videos and PowerPoint presentations for project events and reports, totaling 20 pages in English; (6) Assisting with logistical matters related to the Forum of Mayors and its Side Events, ensuring smooth operations and effective coordination.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires an advanced degree in International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Economic Affairs or a related area. Experience in organizing events and managing websites is considered desirable, as it will contribute to the successful execution of the responsibilities outlined in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold an advanced degree in International Relations, Business Administration, or a closely related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the contractor possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the UNECE's initiatives and projects.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Economic Affairs or a related area. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to handle complex tasks, manage stakeholder relationships, and contribute to the successful execution of projects. Experience in event organization and website management is also desirable, as it will enhance the contractor's effectiveness in fulfilling their duties.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all communications, documentation, and outputs will be conducted in English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders.
