Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position of Public Information Assistant at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Sana'a is designed for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in public information and communications within a global organization. The intern will be involved in various tasks that support the UNIC's mission to disseminate information and engage with the public through digital platforms. The role is hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote and in-office work, and is expected to last between three to six months. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to content creation for social media, assist in monitoring online platforms, and support the organization of events and meetings, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of the UN and enhancing their professional skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Public Information Assistant intern will vary based on the individual's background and the specific needs of the assigned office. Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the creation of engaging content for UNIC's online platforms, including social media accounts.
  • Monitoring and moderating UNIC's online presence and implementing social media campaigns to enhance outreach.
  • Supporting the design, production, and dissemination of informational materials that promote UN initiatives.
  • Aiding in the organization of events and meetings, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication.
  • Preparing weekly media monitoring reports that analyze both Yemeni and global media coverage relevant to UN activities.
  • Providing translation support for documents and communications as needed by UNIC Sana’a and RCO Yemen.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship role they are applying for. Additionally, applicants must be able to provide proof of their academic status or qualifications during the application process.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. This educational background is essential to ensure that interns possess the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to the tasks they will undertake during their internship.

Experience:
The internship does not require prior professional work experience, making it an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in a professional setting.
