Job Overview:
The Principal, Banking & Treasury FP&A (Costs) position is a critical role within the Finance division, specifically in the Strategy, Planning & Control team. The Principal will be responsible for establishing and monitoring the overall administrative expenditure budget for the Bank, ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively. The position requires collaboration with the Associate Director, Head of Banking and Treasury Business Partner, to develop and present budget proposals and frameworks. The Principal will also play a key role in preparing documentation for senior management and the Board, including the three-year Strategy Implementation Plan and annual Budget. This role demands a high level of independence and the ability to advise budget holders on resource proposals and budget utilization, making it essential for the Principal to possess strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal, Banking & Treasury FP&A (Costs) will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Providing expert advice on budget frameworks and annual budget proposals for the Banking and Treasury sectors.
  • Representing the Finance Strategy, Planning & Control (FSPC) team in cross-departmental projects, contributing as a subject matter expert.
  • Leading the review of cost management issues to support strategic budget decisions.
  • Collaborating with the costs management team to develop cost allocation methodologies for segmented P&L reporting.
  • Conducting periodic management reporting to internal stakeholders and the Board, analyzing financial and operational performance.
  • Monitoring and analyzing cost performance on a monthly basis, providing insights for management reporting.
  • Structuring and managing the implementation of projects, particularly in workforce planning initiatives.
  • Actively monitoring business plan and budget execution, highlighting variances and providing rationale for client groups.
  • Supervising the work of junior staff, including Associates and Analysts, ensuring productivity and efficiency in resource allocation. 1
  • Involved in training Budget Officers and Heads of Resident Offices within the Banking Department. 1
  • Continuously identifying opportunities for increasing efficiency and effectiveness through process automation and data quality improvements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Principal, Banking & Treasury FP&A (Costs) position must possess significant practical experience in cost management issues. A qualified accountant designation, CFA qualification, or a relevant Master's degree is required, along with strong practical experience in Finance or FP&A. Candidates should have a robust accounting knowledge and financial background, complemented by excellent numeric and analytical skills. The ability to work independently while ensuring appropriate checkpoints are in place is essential, as is experience in stakeholder management and negotiation.
