Job Overview: The Analyst, Banking & Treasury Business plays a crucial role in the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) team, focusing on revenue and cost management within the banking and treasury sectors. The Analyst will work closely with the Principal, Banking & Treasury, to develop proposals that assess revenue, risk, and returns, while also advising budget holders on the efficient use of their budgets. The role requires a strong analytical mindset, as the Analyst will conduct detailed expenditure analyses, contribute to high-level bank documents, and maintain relevant policies and procedures related to resource management. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in both strategic and operational aspects of financial management, ensuring that the bank's objectives are met through effective financial oversight and analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Principal, Banking & Treasury FP&A. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing financial performance analytics to support decision-making processes, working with the Capital and Liquidity team to establish RAROC targets, and reporting RAROC metrics regularly. The Analyst will also be tasked with implementing segmented P&L reporting, embedding quarterly forecasting processes, and actively monitoring business plans and budget execution. Additional duties include attending meetings on behalf of the Principal, providing resource analysis for senior management, and identifying opportunities for increasing efficiency in P&L management. On the cost side, the Analyst will monitor budget execution, support the SIP process, provide guidance to budget holders, and conduct regular forecasts. The role also involves analyzing productivity across teams and developing cost allocation methodologies to support segmented P&Ls and cost KPIs. The Analyst will be expected to engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of financial processes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a qualification as a certified accountant or be CFA qualified, along with relevant practical experience in finance or FP&A. A strong accounting background is essential, as well as some practical experience in understanding P&L drivers and financial planning and analysis within the financial services sector. The role requires excellent numeric and analytical skills, a high attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines. Strong organizational skills are also necessary, along with proficiency in IT systems, particularly accounting software and advanced Excel for modeling purposes. Excellent interpersonal skills are crucial for effective teamwork and collaboration with various internal stakeholders, as well as strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required for this position. Advanced degrees such as a master's in business administration (MBA) or a master's in finance may be preferred but are not mandatory. Professional certifications such as CPA or CFA are highly valued and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance, particularly in financial planning and analysis within the banking or financial services industry.
