Job Overview: This internship focuses on the critical area of green hydrogen, which is essential for energy transition and climate protection. The position is part of the International Hydrogen Ramp-up Program (H2Uppp), which is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The program aims to stimulate entrepreneurial initiatives and project development necessary for scaling hydrogen markets globally. Interns will gain insights into the dynamics of hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) markets while connecting with experts within GIZ and its partners. The role involves supporting the implementation of public-private cooperation projects and contributing to the overall success of the program.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: proactively contributing to the successful delivery and implementation of projects, particularly those involving cooperation with the private sector; supporting the implementation of calls for public-private partnership (PPP) projects and analyzing submitted proposals; facilitating learning and knowledge transfer within the team; advising BMWK and private sector stakeholders on global hydrogen market ramp-up and PtX project approaches; ensuring quality control and providing technical inputs for communication products; managing communication efforts related to H2Uppp, including website management and social media; actively participating in the organization of internal and external webinars and events; and assisting with day-to-day operations and project management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a basic understanding and interest in renewable energy, green hydrogen, international cooperation, and sustainability. Initial work experience in these areas is advantageous. Strong written communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to work in a structured manner are essential. Candidates should also be able to translate complex topics into simple language, demonstrate good self-organization, flexibility, and initiative, and have business fluency in both German and English. Fluency in French or Spanish is considered an asset. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams, is required, and experience in managing website backends is a plus.
Educational Background: Candidates must be currently enrolled in university studies, preferably in fields such as industrial engineering, business administration, or other relevant disciplines. The internship is only available to those who are either currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: While prior work experience is not mandatory, any initial experience related to renewable energy, sustainability, or international cooperation will be considered an advantage. The internship is designed for students who are looking to gain practical experience in these fields.
Languages: Business fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in French or Spanish is considered beneficial and may enhance a candidate's application.
