The internship is designed to enhance the intern's understanding of international labor issues and to provide hands-on experience in a professional environment. Interns will work closely with specialists in the Labour Law Reform and Access to Labour Justice Team (LABOURLAW), contributing to projects that promote social justice and effective labor market regulation. This role is particularly suited for those who are passionate about labor rights and wish to make a meaningful impact in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be expected to perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: contributing to data collection and comparative analyses on labor laws and justice systems; assisting in the provision of technical advice to constituents regarding labor law reform; participating in research on labor dispute prevention and resolution systems; updating the EPLex database; producing publications related to labor law; verifying references and proofreading documents; and performing other relevant duties as assigned. Interns should anticipate dedicating 10% to 20% of their time to administrative tasks, ensuring that they are well-rounded in their experience during the internship.

Experience: The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in conducting comparative legal research, particularly in the field of labor law or access to labor justice. Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods is considered an advantage, as is familiarity with developing and maintaining databases. The ability to effectively use standard MS Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is essential for the successful execution of tasks assigned during the internship.
Languages: A full working competency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language of the ILO. Additionally, knowledge of at least one of the ILO's other working languages, such as French or Spanish, is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application. Proficiency in other languages could also be beneficial, depending on the specific needs of the department.
Additional Notes: The internship is classified as an internship grade position and is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, starting on either the 1st or the 15th of a given month. Interns will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month, with additional contributions towards medical insurance costs. Candidates from non- or under-represented member states may be eligible for financial assistance for travel expenses to Geneva.
