Job Overview:
The Investment Analyst position within the South Asia Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) sector team is pivotal for the successful execution of investment projects. Based in New Delhi or Mumbai, the Investment Analyst will collaborate closely with IFC’s Investment Officers, who are responsible for the origination, structuring, negotiation, and supervision of investment projects. The role involves identifying new projects, assisting in transaction execution, and monitoring portfolios. The South Asia team operates across multiple countries, including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, focusing on new business development and portfolio management. The analyst will engage in various activities, from conducting industry research to preparing financial models, thereby playing a crucial role in the investment project lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Analyst will assist Investment Officers in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting thorough industry and market research to support IFC’s business development and portfolio management efforts in the manufacturing, agribusiness, and services sectors; participating in all phases of the investment project lifecycle, which includes structuring, negotiation, internal approval, and closing; creating detailed financial models and analyzing both historical and projected financial statements; reviewing company information and preparing comprehensive reports on periodic financial statements, project progress, and other relevant information submitted by clients; preparing documentation necessary for IFC's internal processes; tracking the operational and financial performance of IFC's portfolio clients, ensuring compliance with IFC's agreements; performing credit reviews and valuations of equity investments and loan instruments; and assisting division managers in preparing country investment strategy papers, briefs for high-level visits, project profiles for trust fund assistance, and other tasks as assigned by the Manager.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related specialization. An MBA or other Master’s degree in a related field is also acceptable. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in corporate or investment banking. Strong analytical and conceptual skills are essential, particularly in finance, financial investment, portfolio management, corporate finance, and economics. The ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, both verbally and in written form, in English is crucial. Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel for financial modeling is required, along with an aptitude for basic financial software applications and the ability to quickly learn new applications. A keen interest in development finance and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-based environment are also important.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Candidates with an MBA or other Master’s degree in a relevant area will also be considered. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of investment analysis and financial modeling, which are central to the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in corporate or investment banking. This experience should encompass a solid understanding of financial analysis, investment strategies, and portfolio management.
