Job Overview:
The Consultant for Risk Management will work under the supervision of the Agency-wide Focal Point for Risk Management. The primary objectives of this role include strengthening staff understanding of risk management principles, providing actionable guidance to embed risk management into operational processes, and building trust among staff with limited exposure to risk management. The consultant will be responsible for developing training materials, conducting workshops, and facilitating discussions to promote a culture of risk awareness within the organization. This position requires a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring that staff at all levels are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage risks in their respective areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Training and Capacity Building: Develop a tailored outreach and capacity building plan, design and deliver in-house training sessions and workshops on risk management, and create hands-on training materials such as presentations and case studies. Facilitate discussions to promote a culture of risk awareness among staff.
  • Advisory Support: Provide practical guidance on integrating risk management practices into relevant processes, offer expert advice on the maturity level of risk management practices, and create templates for risk reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to identify and address corporate risks, facilitate cross-departmental discussions on risk management issues, and ensure alignment in risk management practices across the organization.
  • Capacity Building of Risk Management Expertise: Provide technical expertise to develop the skills of the Agency-wide Focal Point for Risk Management and contribute to empowering them in interactions with key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Risk Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of five years of practical experience in risk management is required, preferably within UN organizations or large public-sector international institutions. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to apply risk management concepts to real-world challenges and have a proven track record of building buy-in among diverse stakeholders. Experience in designing and delivering training programs is essential, along with familiarity with risk management standards and frameworks such as ISO 31000 and COSO ERM.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Risk Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Finance. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of risk management and its application in organizational settings.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of practical experience in risk management is required. This experience should ideally be within UN organizations, inter-governmental organizations, or large public-sector international institutions. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to apply risk management concepts effectively and to communicate these concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Languages:
A good command of English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an asset and would enhance the candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy offers a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 380, depending on qualifications and experience. If duty travel is required, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be provided. Health coverage and pension fund responsibilities lie with the incumbent. This position is likely to be full-time and may involve international collaboration.
