Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director serves as the official representative of Solidarités International in Venezuela, overseeing the smooth operation of the mission. This role involves proposing and implementing mission strategies aligned with the geopolitical and humanitarian context. The Country Director is responsible for monitoring project progress in accordance with SI's charter and ensuring compliance with internal and contractual procedures. Additionally, the role requires mobilizing necessary material and financial resources for effective program execution, supervising resource administration, coordinating team activities, and ensuring team security. The Country Director acts as the primary liaison with SI's headquarters, navigating the challenges posed by the ongoing humanitarian financial crisis in Venezuela.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Director's responsibilities include serving as the main focal point for security incidents, liaising with national authorities and stakeholders, ensuring updated security procedures, and briefing new staff on the security context. The role also involves external outreach, maintaining communication with donors, and representing SI in strategic discussions. The Country Director leads the annual strategy definition, ensures its application in proposals, and reviews the fulfillment of strategic goals. Strategic management includes leading the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, making strategic decisions, and maintaining an overview of the mission's security and funding context. Coordination within the mission involves regular meetings with coordinators, updating mission monitoring tools, and addressing gaps and needs across locations and departments. Coordination with HQ requires regular updates and communication with the desk manager. Team management includes monitoring team performance, conducting regular meetings, and appraising team members.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a graduate degree or post-graduate degree in Humanitarian Affairs, international development, or a related field, or have equivalent field experience. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and 3-4 years in similar positions is required. Specific technical skills in water, hygiene, and sanitation are essential, along with network coordination, leadership skills, analytical skills, and the ability to adapt to various interlocutors. Strong writing and information dissemination skills, as well as a strategic vision responsive to changing circumstances, are also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a graduate or post-graduate degree in relevant fields such as Humanitarian Affairs or international development. Equivalent field experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a similar duration of experience in roles that align with the responsibilities of a Country Director. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of the humanitarian landscape and the ability to manage complex operations effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory. Proficiency in English, also oral and written, is considered advantageous and beneficial for the role.

  • The role is based in Caracas, Venezuela, and offers a competitive salary starting from EUR 3,740 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation costs and travel expenses. The organization implements a work-break system, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked. Expatriates receive a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, dental, and repatriation costs.
