Job Overview:
The Information Management Intern position is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in the field of information management within the United Nations framework. The intern will work under the guidance of the Information Management Officer, contributing to the monitoring and management of information related to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The role involves assisting in the drafting of documentation, gathering user requirements, and supporting the grant management unit. This internship provides an opportunity to engage with various stakeholders and enhance the intern's understanding of the UN's operations and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Monitoring information in the OCT to ensure compliance and accuracy of data according to signed agreements.
  • Drafting documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the OCT system, including user guidance and system diagrams.
  • Gathering user requirements to enhance OCT reporting on OCHA funding.
  • Streamlining the grants management cycle by drafting documentation and SOPs.
  • Supporting the grant management unit in processing grants, reviewing proposals, and following up on pledges.
  • Drafting and handling official correspondence for and from donors.
  • Collaborating with field and HQ colleagues to draft grant proposals.
  • Researching and presenting information on specific topics as assigned.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Information Management Officer.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, candidates must meet the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Candidates should possess good knowledge of standard MS software applications, particularly Excel, and have the capacity to review large volumes of information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree program. A field of study closely related to the internship is required, ensuring that the intern's training and skills will benefit the United Nations during their internship.

Experience:
While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, it is essential that their field of study is closely related to the internship they are applying for. This ensures that the intern can effectively contribute to the organization's objectives and gain valuable experience in the process.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any of the official languages of the United Nations is considered desirable, as it enhances communication and collaboration within the international environment of the UN.
