Job Overview: The internship is situated within the Portal for Internal Customers (PiK) department of the GIZ's Technical and Methodological Division (FMB). The Fach- und Methodenmanager*innen (FMM) in PiK serve as the central point of contact for all GIZ projects requiring technical and methodological advice. As GIZ projects increasingly request complex, multidisciplinary consulting services, the FMM ensures the cross-thematic and methodological handling of inquiries and coordinates the development of new development policy topics. The intern will support the FMM in their tasks, gaining valuable insights into the standard operations of the FMM and participating in various cross-departmental tasks handled by agile small teams.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the intern include supporting the coordination of professional networks, which serve as platforms for organized regional and professional exchange and collaboration between GIZ experts in partner countries and headquarters. This involves preparing for and participating in community calls, knowledge management formats, and the development of the FV Wiki. The intern will also assist in the strategic development of the FV and its role in the corporate strategy, support internal climate coordination, and participate in upcoming competitions for various climate financing lines. Additional duties include supporting project idea development in task teams, documenting and managing knowledge, and assisting in the development of agile working methods within the department. The intern will also help prepare and co-moderate meetings and workshops, manage MS Teams rooms, and conduct smaller research tasks and presentations related to the technical and methodological area.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program from the third semester onwards, preferably with a focus on development or climate policy. They should demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will quickly adapt to new tasks and understand complex processes. Familiarity with the institutions and basic concepts of international cooperation is essential, along with the ability to research background information on technical topics. Candidates should possess initial knowledge of international cooperation/development cooperation, particularly in climate architecture, or be eager to learn. Strong writing skills for creating clear and concise texts, proficiency in PowerPoint presentations, and enjoyment in organizing processes are also required. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, along with strong PC skills, especially in MS Office applications, are necessary, as well as initial experience with IT applications and modern information and communication technologies.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background is required, with candidates expected to be enrolled in a university program related to development or climate policy. The internship is only available to those who are currently enrolled, participating in a training program that includes an internship, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some initial experience or knowledge in international cooperation or development cooperation, particularly in climate-related fields. This could include academic projects, previous internships, or relevant coursework that demonstrates an understanding of the sector.
Languages: Fluency in German and English is mandatory, with additional proficiency in a third language such as Spanish or French being desirable. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication within the organization and with international partners.
Additional Notes: The internship is full-time and will take place from June 15, 2025, to December 14, 202
The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
