Job Overview:
The Communication Digital Platform Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the digital communication initiatives of the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Kuwait. This internship is designed for individuals who are passionate about digital communication and social media engagement. The intern will work closely with the Public Information Officer (PIO) to develop and implement strategies aimed at increasing the UN's online presence and engagement. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing, content creation, and audience analysis, all while contributing to the UN's mission of promoting peace and development. The intern will be expected to bring creativity and analytical skills to the role, helping to craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and enhance the visibility of the UN's work in Kuwait.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the UN's digital communication efforts. Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing strategies to increase social media followers across platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Creating engaging content that fosters audience interaction and enhances engagement metrics.
  • Analyzing social media and website traffic to inform and refine communication strategies.
  • Producing high-quality multimedia content that aligns with audience preferences and UN branding guidelines.
  • Conducting audience research to identify target demographics and tailor content accordingly.
  • Collaborating with influencers, partners, and UN agencies for cross-promotion opportunities.
  • Running engagement campaigns, including Q&A sessions, polls, and interactive content.
  • Monitoring trending topics and adapting content to maximize visibility.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of content calendars that align with UN campaigns and international observances. 1
  • Producing video content to humanize and localize UN initiatives. 1
  • Tracking and analyzing website traffic trends using analytical tools. 1
  • Providing insights on content performance and recommending improvements based on data analysis. 1
  • Engaging with local influencers and youth groups to amplify UN messages. 1
  • Assisting in organizing communication events, both virtual and in-person. 1
  • Monitoring media coverage of UN activities in Kuwait and reporting findings to the PIO. 1
  • Performing any other related duties as assigned by the PIO.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent), or have graduated with a university degree.
  • Be proficient in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations.
  • Exhibit a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter and show the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • No prior work experience is required, making this position accessible to recent graduates and students.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a relevant educational background, which includes being enrolled in or having completed a university degree. This could be a graduate program or a bachelor's degree, with a focus on fields related to communications, public relations, international relations, or a similar discipline. The educational background should provide a foundation for understanding the UN's mission and the role of effective communication in achieving organizational goals.

Experience:

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position, as these are the working languages of the UN in the region. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, but it is not mandatory for this role.
