Job Overview:
The National SRHR Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA's Country Programme in Papua New Guinea, specifically focusing on reproductive health indicators related to family planning, maternal health, and HIV prevention. The consultant will work under the guidance of the UNFPA Representative and the Deputy Representative, collaborating with various stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, and donor organizations. The position requires a strong commitment to enhancing family planning and maternal health services, ensuring the availability and accessibility of reproductive health commodities, and conducting research and training to support national counterparts. The consultant will also be involved in promoting strategic partnerships and contributing to UN systems coordination in reproductive health, thereby playing a vital role in achieving the goals set forth by the UNFPA.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National SRHR Consultant will be responsible for providing technical guidance and oversight for a comprehensive sexual and reproductive health response. This includes advising on family planning, maternal health, and reproductive health commodity security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. The consultant will work to strengthen health systems, enhance the skill mix of service providers, and ensure the availability of quality SRHR services. Responsibilities also include mobilizing resources, supporting research initiatives, and monitoring the implementation of health initiatives funded by the Maternal Health and Health Supplies Partnership. The consultant will engage in policy dialogue, contribute to joint initiatives, and ensure effective reporting on SRHR activities to UN and donor agencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public health, medicine, health management, pharmacy, supply chain management, social sciences, or a related field. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in sexual and reproductive health, family planning, maternal health, or reproductive health commodity security is required. Experience in public health systems within development or humanitarian contexts is advantageous. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for fostering partnerships and maintaining political relationships.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as public health, medicine, health management, pharmacy, or social sciences is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of sexual and reproductive health and for effectively contributing to the UNFPA's mission in Papua New Guinea.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in areas such as sexual and reproductive health, family planning, and maternal health. Candidates should have experience working in multicultural teams and leading national-level health programs. Familiarity with public health systems in both development and humanitarian settings is considered an asset, as is experience in managing health supply chains and commodity security.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Tok Pisin is also required. These language skills are essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for the successful implementation of health programs in Papua New Guinea.
