Job Overview:
The Programme Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the 'Tolerância Zero! À Violência Baseada no Género' initiative, which aims to combat gender-based violence in Mozambique. This position involves strategic planning, coordination, and management of program activities to ensure alignment with the goals set by the European Union and UNFPA. The coordinator will oversee daily operations, provide technical quality assurance, and engage with implementing partners to foster collaboration and capacity building. The role requires a deep understanding of gender equality issues, GBV prevention and response, and the ability to mentor and lead teams effectively. The Programme Coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating program outcomes, ensuring that initiatives are data-driven and responsive to the needs of the communities served.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Coordinator's duties include leading the implementation of the Tolerância Zero! initiative, ensuring that all activities align with the program's goals and objectives. This involves developing annual work plans, setting priorities, and monitoring progress against established targets. The coordinator will manage relationships with government entities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Responsibilities also include supervising national officers and consultants, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA policies and standards. The coordinator will oversee budget allocations, track program expenditures, and ensure quality control of programmatic and financial delivery. Additionally, the role involves fostering partnerships with donors and stakeholders, supporting resource mobilization efforts, and implementing advocacy strategies to promote the program's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in social sciences, political science, development studies, gender studies, public health, or a related field. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in gender equality and/or SGBV is required. Experience managing large-scale programs and multidisciplinary teams is essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with EU-funded programs is highly desirable, as is knowledge of emergency and crisis contexts. Previous experience within the UN system, particularly with UNFPA, is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to ethical standards and the principles of gender equality and women's empowerment.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, political science, development studies, gender studies, or public health is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical framework and understanding of the complex issues surrounding gender-based violence and reproductive health, which are critical for effective program coordination and implementation.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant professional experience, with a focus on gender equality and SGBV. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing large-scale programs and leading multidisciplinary teams. Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders, including government entities and civil society organizations, is essential. Familiarity with the UN system and prior experience with UNFPA will be considered an asset, as it demonstrates an understanding of the organization's values and operational frameworks.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication with stakeholders, including government officials, implementing partners, and community members. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage, particularly in enhancing engagement with diverse populations and facilitating broader outreach efforts.
