The focus of the program is on renewable energy and energy efficiency, particularly in the context of Ghana's energy landscape, which is heavily reliant on fossil fuels. The trainees will contribute to the implementation of strategies aimed at promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency in Ghana, thereby supporting the country's transition to a more sustainable energy system.
Duties and Responsibilities: During the first practical phase, the trainee will be involved in several key tasks, including:
Assisting in the development of educational materials related to net metering and the integration of decentralized renewable energy sources into the distribution network.
Advising and supporting the two state-owned electricity providers, ECG and NEDCo, as well as GIZ consultants, in conducting studies on the capacity of the distribution network to accommodate photovoltaic (PV) energy.
Supporting the establishment of an energy efficiency network for industrial and/or commercial enterprises, including training for employees.
Identifying renewable energy and energy efficiency measures that can be implemented by the Ghanaian industry. The specific tasks for the subsequent practical phases will be developed throughout the trainee program, allowing for a comprehensive learning experience.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a degree with a focus on renewable energy or energy efficiency, such as energy policy, electrical engineering, or other engineering disciplines. Essential knowledge in renewable energy and energy efficiency is required, along with a solid understanding of energy policy and financing. Fluency in both German and English is mandatory. Additional qualifications that would enhance the candidate's profile include knowledge of development cooperation, practical experience in a developing country, willingness to relocate multiple times, openness to working in different organizations, and intercultural competence.
