Job Overview: The Supply Chain Officer position is a consultancy role that involves leading and providing technical advice on procurement field operations of moderate complexity, including Cash Based Transfers (CBT). The officer will work closely with key supply chain functions to ensure an integrated approach to meeting the food assistance needs of beneficiaries. This role requires coordination with government initiatives and strengthening the capacity of supply chain partners. The officer will also be responsible for overseeing procurement projects, ensuring compliance with WFP policies, and managing relationships with suppliers and vendors. The position is crucial for optimizing procurement strategies and ensuring effective delivery of food and non-food commodities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Consolidate and analyze data to inform country sourcing strategies and plan procurement initiatives.
Provide oversight and guidance to Country Offices on implementing best practice procurement policies.
Lead procurement projects and manage operational activities for a Country Office, including issuing tenders and negotiating contracts.
Draft responses to audit recommendations to ensure compliance with procurement activities.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to maximize service value.
Coordinate with inspection firms to ensure quality control and compliance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement activities.
Prepare timely reports on procurement activities for informed decision-making.
Manage procurement officers or teams to ensure high performance. 1
Build capacity of staff and partners in strategic procurement approaches. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, Legal, or Accounting. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of related work experience may be accepted. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of progressive relevant work experience, particularly in communicating and coordinating with UN agencies or large international organizations. Experience in food commodity markets and vendor management is essential, along with knowledge of budgeting and WFP corporate systems.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering, Legal, or Accounting is required. A first university degree may be acceptable if accompanied by additional relevant work experience and training.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressive relevant work experience. Candidates should have experience in communicating and coordinating with UN agencies or large international organizations, as well as experience working with food commodity markets and vendor management. Familiarity with budgeting and WFP corporate systems is also necessary.
Languages: Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese is desirable, as these are considered WFP working languages.
