Job Overview:
The position of Experta/o en Salud Mental y Apoyo Psicosocial involves leading initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health services and psychosocial support within the community. The expert will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that address the mental health needs of various populations, particularly vulnerable groups. This role requires a deep understanding of mental health issues, cultural sensitivities, and the ability to work collaboratively with local stakeholders. The expert will also be expected to conduct assessments, provide training to local staff, and ensure that the programs are aligned with international best practices in mental health care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement mental health and psychosocial support programs tailored to the needs of the community.
  • Conduct assessments to identify the mental health needs of individuals and groups.
  • Provide training and capacity-building for local staff and community members on mental health issues and support strategies.
  • Collaborate with local health authorities and organizations to enhance the integration of mental health services into existing health systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mental health programs and make necessary adjustments based on feedback and outcomes.
  • Advocate for the rights of individuals with mental health issues and promote awareness of mental health in the community.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to program activities and outcomes for stakeholders and funding agencies.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in mental health and psychosocial support, with a focus on community-based approaches. They should have experience in program development and implementation, as well as a solid understanding of mental health policies and practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work in a multicultural environment. The candidate should also demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in mental health or psychosocial support are highly desirable. Continuous professional development in mental health practices is encouraged to stay updated with the latest research and methodologies.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in mental health and psychosocial support, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with diverse populations and in crisis situations is an advantage. Proven track record of managing projects and leading teams is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the community may be beneficial.
