Job Overview:
The position of Directora de Incidencia y Relaciones Institucionales is crucial for the organization as it aims to enhance its influence and relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and international organizations. The role involves developing and implementing strategies to advocate for policy changes that align with the organization's mission. The director will be expected to lead initiatives that raise awareness about critical issues, engage with policymakers, and foster partnerships that support the organization's objectives. This position requires a deep understanding of the political landscape and the ability to navigate complex institutional environments to achieve desired outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute advocacy strategies to influence policy decisions at local, national, and international levels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders to promote the organization's agenda.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and public forums to articulate its positions and priorities.
  • Conduct research and analysis on relevant policy issues to inform advocacy efforts.
  • Prepare reports, position papers, and other materials to support advocacy initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align advocacy efforts with programmatic goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy strategies and adjust approaches as necessary.
  • Lead capacity-building efforts for staff and partners on advocacy and institutional engagement.
  • Stay informed about developments in relevant policy areas and adjust strategies accordingly. 1
  • Manage budgets and resources related to advocacy initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in advocacy, public policy, or institutional relations, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of the political landscape and institutional frameworks relevant to the organization's mission.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful advocacy strategies.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to inform policy positions and advocacy efforts.
  • Experience in managing teams and projects effectively.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in political science, international relations, public policy, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in advocacy, negotiation, or public affairs would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in advocacy, public policy, or institutional relations is required, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role. Experience working in international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages such as French or Arabic would be considered an asset.
