The Regional Durable Solutions Secretariat (ReDSS) was established in 2015 and serves as a coordination and information hub for 14 NGOs focused on driving durable solutions for communities affected by displacement in the East, Horn, and Great Lakes regions of Africa. ReDSS aims to enhance joint learning, inform policy, build capacity, and foster coordination among its members. The organization operates in multiple countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and has a coordination unit for the Great Lakes based in Burundi. ReDSS is committed to addressing the challenges faced by displaced communities and works collaboratively to develop innovative solutions that are sustainable and effective.

Job Overview:
The ReDSS Kenya Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the ReDSS initiatives in Kenya. This position entails overall management and coordination of the ReDSS Kenya Country Unit, which includes the development and implementation of strategic plans, work plans, and budgets. The manager will provide strategic direction and represent ReDSS members in various relevant forums and coordination mechanisms. The role requires a strong focus on ensuring that the ReDSS strategy is executed with high quality and effectiveness, while also fostering collaboration among ReDSS members in Kenya. The manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal procedures and facilitating timely and quality project implementation, alongside budget planning and management. This position is crucial for driving the organization's mission to support displacement-affected communities and to ensure that their needs are met through effective policy and programmatic responses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The ReDSS Kenya Manager will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: leading the ReDSS Kenya initiative and providing strategic direction; ensuring the delivery of the ReDSS strategy with high quality; developing the country strategy, work plans, and budgets; fundraising for the unit in collaboration with ReDSS members; ensuring effective internal information sharing and coordination among members; managing staff performance and development; facilitating compliance with procedures and processes; coordinating donor applications and reports; developing a common research and learning agenda; implementing the ReDSS learning framework; overseeing knowledge management and learning strategies; coordinating capacity development efforts with local authorities and stakeholders; facilitating mentorship and peer learning; translating evidence into programming and policy guidance; initiating policy actions based on evidence; strengthening policy dialogue; representing ReDSS Kenya with various stakeholders; and ensuring active engagement with displacement-affected communities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in similar roles that involve knowledge management, research, evidence building, and coordination of a consortium of partners. An advanced university degree in social studies, political science, international relations, or a related field is required. Strong knowledge of the socio-economic and political dynamics of the region, particularly regarding displacement trends, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage politically sensitive contexts and have solid experience in capacity development across a range of actors. Excellent analytical and writing skills are necessary, along with the ability to produce high-quality research and policy briefs. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders are also critical.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in social studies, political science, international relations, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to effectively manage the complexities of displacement issues and to engage with various stakeholders in the humanitarian and development sectors.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of relevant experience in positions that involve knowledge management, research, evidence building, and coordination among partners. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and to establish effective working relationships with various stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, donors, and community members. Experience in capacity development, adult learning, mentoring, and coaching is also highly valued, as is the ability to manage complex and politically sensitive contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region, such as Swahili, is considered an asset and would enhance the candidate's ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders effectively.
