Job Overview: The Partnership Analyst position at the UNV Regional Office for East and Southern Africa (ESARO) involves supporting partnership development and management activities in the region. The role requires collaboration with the UNV Regional Office team and Field Units to identify strategic priorities and opportunities for engagement with UN partners. The analyst will be responsible for analyzing and documenting intelligence on partners, identifying their needs, and developing partnerships for volunteer mobilization. The position also entails preparing mission documentation, managing information in the Customer Relationship Management Platform (CRMP), and engaging with various stakeholders to enhance volunteerism and support UN humanitarian efforts. The analyst will play a crucial role in strengthening UNV's positioning as a solution provider for UN humanitarian partners in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Partnership Development and Management in ESARO: Scan and map the UNSDCFs and CPDs, identify strategic priorities, and recommend engagement opportunities with UN partners. Harvest and document intelligence on UN's engagements to support volunteer mobilization. Identify partnership opportunities with Member States and the private sector for resource mobilization. Prepare UN partner presentations and quarterly snapshots. Designcapacity development initiatives for Field Unit personnel.
Support Research and Policy Analysis: Conduct research and provide analysis on partner intelligence to inform volunteer mobilization projections. Review and translate UN Volunteer Mobilization business outlooks to the regional context. Develop partnership offers for UN-AFPs in various thematic areas. Identify resource mobilization opportunities based on research. Monitor implementation of joint action plans linked to global MoUs.
Contribute to Knowledge Building: Collate partnership advice and intelligence to support Field Units. Analyze data on partnerships and disseminate findings. Prepare mission documentation and manage CRM pages. Contribute to global knowledge products on partnerships.
Strengthen UNV's Positioning: Build collaboration with humanitarian partners and develop co-branded volunteer solutions. Position UNV as a partner of choice in regional strategies, focusing on inclusion and engagement. Collect partner information for outreach materials and prepare impactful presentations. Assess partnerships through feedback from dialogue with UN partners and Field Units.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in international affairs, international development, economics, development studies, social sciences, or a related field. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) with two additional years of qualifying experience may be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience at national and/or international level in development, international relations, social sciences, economics, or related fields (4 years with a bachelor’s degree). Experience working with partners, including governments and UN entities, is required. Hands-on experience in research, policy analysis, and producing knowledge products is essential. Knowledge of the UN system is desired. Experience in business intelligence tools and communication materials is required. Experience in the East and Southern Africa region is an advantage. Experience related to volunteerism is an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as international affairs, international development, economics, development studies, social sciences, or related disciplines. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience for candidates with a master's degree, or 4 years for those with a bachelor's degree. This experience should be at the national and/or international level in areas such as development, international relations, social sciences, or economics. Candidates should have experience working with partners, including development entities and UN organizations, and should demonstrate hands-on experience in research and policy analysis.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in another official UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the position.
