Job Posting Organization: L'UNOPS Madagascar, established to provide services through its main office in Antananarivo, has opened several branch offices across the country following the signing of projects covering these regions. The UNOPS Madagascar office responds to the support needs of the government of Madagascar through funding from multilateral and bilateral donors. It offers a wide range of procurement and infrastructure implementation services and aims to expand its support to diverse projects, basic service provision, and other related services, particularly in economic and social infrastructure (construction and rehabilitation) and financial management in sectors such as agriculture, transport/public works, sanitation, health, environment, and climate change mitigation. Job Overview: The position of Chauffeur(e) (Logistique) - Retainer involves providing reliable and secure driving services under the supervision of the Logistic Officer. The role requires a customer-oriented approach, a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The chauffeur may often need to navigate complex and challenging environments with limited resources. The primary functions include ensuring the safe transport of authorized personnel, maintaining assigned vehicles, tracking vehicle parts, and supporting various teams. The chauffeur will be responsible for transporting personnel to and from the airport for official missions, driving project teams, and ensuring the daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including cleanliness, safety checks, and timely repairs. The role also involves ensuring the validity of vehicle documents and compliance with local traffic laws, as well as assisting with immigration and customs formalities when necessary. The chauffeur will support the office by collecting and distributing mail and documents, assisting with inventory management, and performing various office tasks as needed. The position requires a proactive approach and the ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide reliable and secure driving services, ensuring the safe transport of authorized personnel and project teams for official missions.
Maintain assigned vehicles by conducting daily checks for cleanliness, safety, and mechanical condition, and performing minor repairs as needed.
Track the validity of vehicle documents, including insurance, technical inspections, and necessary supplies.
Ensure compliance with local traffic regulations and take immediate action in case of accidents.
Support teams with immigration and customs formalities, assist with mail and document distribution, and help with inventory management.
Assist the procurement unit with obtaining quotes and specifications, and help organize customs clearance for shipments.
Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of office facilities, vehicles, and common spaces.
Perform various office tasks such as photocopying and scanning, and complete any other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a secondary school diploma and a minimum of three years of professional driving experience. A valid Category B driver's license is required. Additional qualifications include training or experience in mechanics, general administration, and computer skills. Knowledge of customs exemption procedures is an asset, as is experience working within the UN system, donor agencies, or NGOs. First aid training is also considered a plus.
Educational Background: A secondary school diploma is mandatory for this position. Candidates with additional qualifications or certifications in relevant fields may be preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three years of professional driving experience is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of safe driving and vehicle maintenance. Experience in a similar role within the UN system or related organizations is advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in French, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required.
Additional Notes: The contract type is a Local ICA Support Contract (LICA 3) with a duration of 12 months, subject to performance and availability of funds.
