The UNOPS Madagascar office responds to the support needs of the government of Madagascar through funding from multilateral and bilateral donors. Job Overview:
The Chauffeur(e) (Logistique) - Retainer position is supervised by the Logistic Officer and requires a client-oriented approach, a high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The chauffeur may often need to navigate complex and challenging environments with limited resources. The role involves providing reliable and safe driving services, maintaining assigned vehicles, tracking vehicle parts, and supporting logistics teams. The chauffeur is responsible for transporting authorized personnel, ensuring airport shuttles for official missions, and driving teams for project missions. Daily vehicle maintenance includes cleanliness checks, mechanical safety assessments, fuel and fluid levels, and timely repairs. The chauffeur must also ensure the validity of all required documents and supplies, including vehicle insurance, technical visits, and first aid kits, while providing guidance on local traffic laws. The role requires supporting immigration and customs formalities, collecting and distributing mail and documents, assisting with inventory records, and helping with office maintenance tasks. The chauffeur must work independently in the absence of supervision and complete any other tasks as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide reliable and safe driving services, ensuring the transport of authorized personnel and airport shuttles for official missions.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles by checking cleanliness, mechanical safety, fuel and fluid levels, and performing daily repairs.
  • Track the validity of all required documents and supplies, ensuring availability of insurance, technical visits, and first aid kits.
  • Ensure compliance with local traffic laws and take immediate measures in case of accidents.
  • Support logistics teams by facilitating immigration and customs formalities, collecting and distributing mail and documents, and assisting with inventory records.
  • Help with office maintenance tasks, including photocopying and scanning.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision and complete any other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
A secondary school diploma is required. A minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience is required for candidates with a secondary school diploma. A valid Category B driving license is required. Training and/or experience in mechanics is an asset. Training and/or experience in archiving or general administration is an asset. Experience in using computer tools is an asset. Knowledge of exemption and customs procedures would be an asset. Experience working within the UN system, donors, or NGOs would be an asset. First aid training is an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a secondary school diploma as a minimum educational requirement for this position.

Experience:
Candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience. Experience in mechanics, administration, or working within the UN system is considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not specified as a requirement.

Additional Notes:
The contract type is a LICA contract at level LICA 3, with a local ICA support contract duration of 12 months, up to a maximum of 220 days, subject to performance and availability of funds.
