Job Overview:
The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Consultant will play a crucial role in integrating psychosocial support within the witness protection framework. This position involves conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments and providing necessary support to witnesses before, during, and after their interviews. The consultant will work remotely and is expected to deliver services over a maximum of 110 working days until December 31, 2025, as per the mission plan. The role requires a deep understanding of mental health issues, particularly in the context of trauma and crisis intervention, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure the well-being of witnesses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for conducting individual psychosocial assessments of witnesses and victims, identifying their mental health, physical health, and social conditions. They will provide psychological support sessions and facilitate referrals to mental health professionals as needed. The consultant will also identify psychosocial risks that may impact witness cooperation and safety, advising investigative teams on ethical and survivor-centered approaches. Collaboration with the Witness Protection and Support Team is essential to address witnesses' practical needs and integrate psychosocial considerations into the investigation process. The consultant will also draft reports on psychosocial aspects of witness protection and share these with relevant officers.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Advanced University Degree in Psychology, preferably in Clinical or Forensic Psychology, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with at least two years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of two years of professional experience in psychological assessment and support for vulnerable groups is required, along with experience in mental health and psychosocial support, particularly in trauma and crisis intervention. Experience working with vulnerable populations, including survivors of serious crimes, is essential, and experience with the Rohingya population is desirable.

Educational Background:
An Advanced University Degree in Psychology (Clinical or Forensic Psychology or a related field) is required for this position. A first-level university degree in the same fields, combined with relevant experience, may also be considered acceptable. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of mental health issues faced by witnesses and victims in high-stress situations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in psychological assessment and support, particularly with vulnerable groups such as victims of serious crimes and traumatized individuals. Candidates should have experience in mental health and psychosocial support, with a focus on trauma, crisis intervention, and resilience-building. Experience working with survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), children, and persons with disabilities is also necessary, along with experience liaising with external service providers to ensure effective referral processes.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in French is also beneficial. Additionally, confidence in oral Rohingya, Burmese, or other Myanmar languages is desirable, as it may facilitate communication with witnesses from these backgrounds.
