Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on supporting the Global Project (GV) for Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture, which aims to enhance fish production through sustainable practices to address food insecurity. The intern will be involved in a multi-level approach that includes training producers, strengthening multipliers, and providing policy advice. The role will require the intern to assist in preparing the project's experiences for dissemination on platforms and at events such as AFRAQ 202
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's primary responsibilities will include supporting the steering team in Germany with various tasks. Key duties involve assisting in the evaluation of collected data and creatively preparing results and impact data for reporting, public relations, and communication purposes. The intern will conduct independent research, analyses, and presentations on various topics related to the Global Project, including contributions to statements for the BMZ. Additionally, the intern will support the steering team in knowledge management and continuity, as well as handle organizational and administrative tasks such as maintaining the document management system. The role also includes building and maintaining an internal project website with a document library, preparing for conference appearances, including creating and translating fact sheets and stand designs, and participating in team meetings and relevant coordination formats with other projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed or be nearing completion of a Master's degree in Fisheries, Agriculture, Political Science, Economics, Social Sciences, or related fields. Experience or interest in fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture, value chains, rural development, and international cooperation is essential. Proficiency in both German and English is mandatory, while solid knowledge of French is advantageous. Candidates should also possess good skills in MS Office applications, statistical knowledge, and experience in data analysis using SPSS. Creativity in presenting data and project information graphically is important, as is the ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and understandable manner. Flexibility, organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities are also required, along with a team-oriented mindset and the capacity to work independently and systematically.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in relevant fields such as Fisheries, Agriculture, Political Science, Economics, or Social Sciences is required. Candidates who are currently enrolled in a Master's program or have recently graduated (within the last six months) are also eligible to apply, provided the internship is part of their educational curriculum.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some experience or a strong interest in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture, and international development. Previous international experience in developing countries is considered an advantage, as it will enhance the candidate's understanding of the context in which the GIZ operates.

Languages:
Fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively in both languages. Knowledge of French is considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate communication in certain contexts and with specific stakeholders.

  • The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
