Job Overview:
The Consultant Expert on Gender and Human Rights in the AIRCOP Project will play a pivotal role in advancing gender equality and human rights within law enforcement frameworks. This position involves organizing virtual coffee meetings for women officers to foster a supportive community, conceptualizing campaigns for International Women’s Day, and developing a Gender Toolkit for law enforcement officers. The consultant will also be responsible for compiling comprehensive reports on human rights and gender integration, ensuring that the findings contribute to the overall objectives of the AIRCOP initiative. The role requires a proactive approach to engage with various stakeholders and facilitate training sessions that enhance the understanding and implementation of gender-sensitive practices in law enforcement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including: organizing and facilitating virtual coffee meetings for women officers to exchange best practices; participating in field visits and meetings to gather information on human rights and gender approaches; developing practical resources such as a Gender Toolkit for law enforcement officers; organizing a virtual regional meeting focused on gender and human rights; liaising with the UNODC Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling Section to explore collaboration opportunities; and compiling a comprehensive report on the integration of human rights and gender approaches across AIRCOP JAITFs. These duties require strong organizational skills, the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to promoting gender equality and human rights.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, international business, political science, international relations, human rights, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in similar fields combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. Additionally, a minimum of two years of experience in gender and human rights is required, along with experience in organizing capacity-building activities and developing research papers in relevant areas. Knowledge of the UNODC mandate and the Latin American and Caribbean regions is essential, as well as excellent planning and organizing skills. Experience within the United Nations system or a similar international organization is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as business administration, international business, political science, international relations, human rights, or related fields. A first-level university degree in similar fields, combined with two additional years of qualifying experience, may also be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender and human rights issues within the context of law enforcement and international cooperation.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in the area of gender and human rights. Candidates should have a proven track record of organizing capacity-building activities related to gender and human rights, as well as experience in developing research papers and conducting training needs assessments. Languages:
Fluency in English and Spanish is required for this position, with excellent drafting and communication skills. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is considered an advantage.
