Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is offered within the International Services department of GIZ, specifically focusing on the MENA region. The intern will support the team in daily operations, particularly in project acquisition. The role involves working with the German government on bilateral development cooperation and engaging with various international clients. GIZ International Services utilizes its long-standing experience and exceptional know-how to provide results-oriented services in the international market. Major clients include the European Commission and partner country governments, as well as bilateral donors and large international private companies contributing to the development process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will have several key responsibilities, including: assisting project managers and the regional director in developing project acquisitions, particularly in the tendering business of the European Commission and the European Investment Bank; screening new project opportunities in the tendering business; conducting research and communication activities with other GIZ departments and projects to prepare concept papers and project references; supporting project managers in organizing ongoing projects; and conducting research on various technical topics to prepare for direct acquisitions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in their studies from the 3rd semester onwards in fields such as social sciences, political science, economics, public administration, law, Middle Eastern studies, or other relevant disciplines. A strong interest in development cooperation is essential, along with qualities such as commitment, flexibility, resilience, independence, and thoroughness. Candidates should approach new challenges creatively and act in a solution- and service-oriented manner. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as very good oral and written expression, are required.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a relevant academic program, ideally in their third semester or higher. Fields of study should include social sciences, political science, economics, public administration, law, or Middle Eastern studies, among others. The internship is only possible if the candidate is currently enrolled, participating in a training program that includes an internship, or has graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in development cooperation and possess the ability to handle tasks independently and efficiently. Familiarity with project management processes and research methodologies will be beneficial.

Languages:
Very good English and French language skills are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the MENA region would be advantageous but is not required. Candidates should also be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, to manage tasks effectively.
