Job Overview: The position of Praktikant*in in the Panafrikanische E-Commerce Initiative focuses on enhancing the conditions for African businesses to participate in cross-border e-commerce. This initiative recognizes the growing importance of e-commerce as a procurement and distribution channel in emerging African economies. The intern will be involved in research and conceptual work related to e-commerce, supporting monitoring tasks, internal and external communication, and knowledge management. The role requires a proactive approach to organizing events with partners from various sectors, including business, civil society, and networks. The intern will also engage in administrative and organizational tasks within the daily operations of the project, contributing to the overall success of the initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for conducting research and conceptual work on e-commerce, assisting with monitoring tasks such as maintaining the monitoring system, data collection, and analysis. They will support internal and external communication efforts, including the editorial creation and graphic design of short concepts, flyers, and presentations. The intern will also aid in knowledge management by maintaining databases, creating surveys, documenting important meetings, and developing guidelines for recurring processes. Additionally, the intern will prepare for events with cooperation partners, manage participant logistics, document proceedings, and handle various event management tasks. Administrative and organizational duties will also be part of the daily responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, business administration, political science, or social sciences. Knowledge of e-commerce, cross-border trade, or development policy is desirable. Previous work experience in international cooperation, particularly in developing countries like Ghana, Kenya, or Rwanda, is advantageous. Proficiency in both German and English is required, and knowledge of additional languages, especially French, is a plus. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a self-directed and responsible work ethic, strong organizational skills, resilience, and flexibility. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a friendly demeanor, analytical thinking, and a structured approach to work are essential. Familiarity with data collection, processing, and analysis methods, as well as proficiency in common MS Office programs and digital tools, is expected.
Educational Background: The position requires a completed first university degree, with a bachelor's degree being the minimum requirement. A master's degree in a relevant field is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the subject matter related to e-commerce and development.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have some initial work experience, particularly in international cooperation settings. Experience in developing countries is particularly valued, as it provides context and understanding of the challenges faced in those environments. This experience can be gained through internships, volunteer work, or previous employment in relevant fields.
Languages: Fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly French, is considered advantageous and may enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments.

It is essential that candidates are currently enrolled in a study program that requires an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
