Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the APLAK regional division of GIZ, which is responsible for implementing over 350 projects across Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The role involves providing strategic advice to leadership, particularly in decision-making processes and coordination of cross-cutting themes within the division. Interns will engage in ongoing processes related to corporate strategic measures, such as changes in procurement procedures and evaluation systems, and will be involved in the preparation and analysis of key performance indicators at the division level. The internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant projects while developing professional skills in a dynamic international environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will be responsible for supporting various ongoing processes, including:
  • Assisting in the implementation of corporate strategic measures, such as changes to procurement procedures and evaluation systems.
  • Preparing and analyzing key performance indicators at the division level.
  • Planning and organizing internal events and conferences, including leadership conferences and information sessions.
  • Creating and preparing various text formats for internal and external communication on cross-cutting themes such as digitalization and gender.
  • Conducting research and analysis on various topics relevant to the division.
  • Communicating with various stakeholders both within the division and externally to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a foundational or bachelor's degree in social sciences, particularly in political science, regional studies, economics, business administration, communication science, or a related field. Proficiency in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams) is essential, along with a strong affinity for digital tools and topics. The ideal candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm for the Asia-Pacific and Latin America/Caribbean regions, possess a self-directed and results-oriented work style, and exhibit strong communication, teamwork, organizational skills, creativity, and initiative. Additionally, candidates should have text and presentation skills for creating and preparing various formats for internal and external communication, as well as strong analytical abilities for supporting survey analysis and conducting relevant research.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completed foundational or bachelor's degree in social sciences, with a focus on political science, regional studies, economics, business administration, communication science, or a comparable field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of international development and the specific challenges faced in the regions of Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a degree program or in a training program that necessitates the completion of an internship. Alternatively, candidates who have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship are also eligible to apply. This ensures that interns are able to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting while gaining valuable experience in the field of international development.

Languages:
Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of Spanish is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication and collaboration within the diverse teams and projects that GIZ engages with across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The internship is available for a duration from July 15, 2025, to January 14, 2026, and can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis. The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
