Job Overview: The National expert for energy efficiency position is part of the UNDP's initiative to accelerate a just energy transition in Moldova. This role involves providing expert advice and support in enhancing energy efficiency within the residential and public sectors. The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing current energy practices, identifying areas for improvement, and developing strategies to promote energy-efficient technologies and practices. The expert will work closely with local stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and private sector partners, to implement energy efficiency measures that contribute to sustainable development goals. The position requires a deep understanding of energy systems, policy frameworks, and the socio-economic context of Moldova, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of energy consumption patterns in the residential and public sectors to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and propose actionable strategies and recommendations for enhancing energy efficiency in line with national policies and international best practices.
Collaborate with government officials, local authorities, and community organizations to promote energy-efficient practices and technologies.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings, recommendations, and progress made in energy efficiency initiatives.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate stakeholders on energy efficiency measures and their benefits.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of energy efficiency projects, providing ongoing support and guidance to ensure successful outcomes.
Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and policies related to energy efficiency and sustainability.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in energy efficiency, sustainable energy systems, or related fields.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex energy systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
Familiarity with national and international energy policies, regulations, and standards.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in energy management, environmental science, engineering, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in energy efficiency or sustainable development are highly desirable.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in energy efficiency, sustainable energy, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in Moldova or similar contexts is an advantage. Proven track record of successfully implementing energy efficiency projects is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Romanian and/or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role under the UNDP procurement process. The contract duration and specific terms will be discussed upon selection. The position is full-time, and the selected candidate will be expected to work closely with the UNDP team in Moldova. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, in accordance with UNDP policies.
