Job Overview:
The Technical Associate (Livelihood) will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of livelihood interventions within the ABADEI project. This position requires a proactive approach to developing partnerships and coordinating with various stakeholders, including UN agencies and local partners. The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical support to ensure that livelihood activities align with the project strategy, focusing on community participation and stakeholder consultation. The role also involves knowledge management, information sharing, and the development of capacity-building materials to enhance the effectiveness of livelihood initiatives. The Technical Associate will work closely with the Livelihood Specialist and the Regional Area Manager, contributing to the overall success of the project by ensuring that all targets and outputs are met efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will undertake a variety of responsibilities to ensure the success of the ABADEI project, including:
  • Supporting the effective design and implementation of livelihood interventions, ensuring alignment with project strategies and community needs.
  • Providing technical support for the development of suitable livelihood options for vulnerable communities.
  • Preparing capacity development materials and conducting capacity-building initiatives.
  • Monitoring project implementation by partners, ensuring compliance with agreements and timelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining networks for information sharing and partnership development.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to implement livelihood initiatives effectively.
  • Assessing and evaluating funding proposals from potential partner organizations.
  • Supporting the development of specific livelihood activities for women, integrating gender issues into project planning.
  • Keeping track of financial records related to livelihood activities. 1
  • Identifying operational challenges and proposing solutions to enhance project effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of secondary education, with a first-level university degree in Agribusiness, Economics, Social Sciences, or related fields being advantageous. A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with secondary education or 3 years with a bachelor's degree in designing and implementing employment/livelihood recovery projects is required. Experience in developing tools for monitoring livelihood needs, conducting assessments, and documenting success stories is essential. Familiarity with project results tracking and reporting, as well as experience working with UN or NGOs in a livelihoods context, is highly desirable. Proficiency in using office software and data management tools is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes secondary education as a minimum. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) in relevant fields such as Agribusiness, Economics, or Social Sciences will be considered an asset but is not mandatory. The emphasis is on practical experience and the ability to apply knowledge effectively in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of 6 years with secondary education or 3 years with a bachelor's degree in relevant fields. Candidates should have hands-on experience in designing and implementing livelihood recovery projects, including the ability to assess community needs, develop appropriate interventions, and monitor project outcomes. Experience in documenting project successes and lessons learned is also crucial, along with familiarity with result-based management principles and project implementation.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with fluency in Dari and/or Pashtu. These language skills are essential for effective communication with local communities and stakeholders, ensuring that project objectives are met and that the needs of the beneficiaries are understood and addressed.

This position is full-time and involves working closely with various stakeholders, including local partners and UN agencies. The Technical Associate will be expected to engage in capacity-building efforts and support the development of a coordination mechanism among partners.
