Job Overview:
The Senior Broadcast and Conference Operator is a pivotal role within the Facilities Management Section of the Division of Administration at ECA. This position involves overseeing various operational aspects including studio production, post-production, conference operations, and engineering maintenance of broadcast systems. The incumbent will manage audio/video systems, microphone management, and simultaneous interpretation systems, ensuring seamless operation during conferences and broadcasts. The role also includes developing and implementing new computer application systems, maintaining technical documentation, and conducting research on emerging technologies. The operator will coordinate with different departments to plan resources for events and serve as a team leader for projects related to computer application systems. The position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and maintaining broadcast equipment, as well as providing training and support to technical staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Broadcast and Conference Operator will be responsible for managing studio production operations, overseeing conference operations, and maintaining broadcast engineering systems. Key duties include: managing audio/video systems and simultaneous interpretation systems; participating in the development and testing of new computer applications; designing and installing software and hardware according to specifications; maintaining technical documentation; conducting research on new technologies; coordinating with departments for resource planning; leading projects related to computer application systems; preparing completion reports; supervising technical support staff; liaising with senior officers and delegations; determining resource requirements for meetings; conducting operational training for staff; and assisting with data analysis and presentations. The role demands a high level of professionalism and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A strong understanding of electronics and the operation of conferencing systems, CCTV equipment, and application software is desirable. The role requires the ability to interpret complex electronic drawings and a sound knowledge of computer hardware. Candidates should demonstrate technical proficiency in broadcast systems and possess strong analytical skills to support decision-making processes. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively is essential.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional qualifications in electronics or a related field are desirable, particularly in understanding and interpreting sophisticated electronic drawings. Knowledge of conferencing systems and audio-visual equipment operation is also beneficial.

Experience:
A minimum of ten years of practical experience in the maintenance and installation of audio-visual equipment in large establishments is required. Candidates should have a proven track record in managing broadcast systems and conference operations, with a strong understanding of the technical aspects involved in these areas. Experience in supervising technical staff and coordinating complex projects is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French or another official United Nations language is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.
