Job Overview:
The Ecosystem Restoration Specialist will be based in the FAO Country Office in the Philippines and will report directly to the FAO Representative. The primary focus of this role is to facilitate the compilation and review of restoration data, working closely with multiple ministries, bureaus, and local government units to understand data collection processes. The specialist will contribute to enhancing national databases and monitoring systems, ensuring interoperability with the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM). This position requires expertise in ecosystem restoration monitoring, data analysis, and project monitoring, making it essential for candidates to possess a strong background in these areas. The specialist will also be involved in training stakeholders on restoration-related tools and will play a key role in documenting best practices and lessons learned in the field of ecosystem restoration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Ecosystem Restoration Specialist include: reviewing and assessing the implementation of Target 14 from the Philippines Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (PBSAP) 2015-2028; performing a stock take of relevant monitoring tools and data sources; reviewing default data for restoration reporting compiled by FAO and providing feedback; exploring interoperability of restoration data between national databases and FERM; providing targeted training on restoration tools developed by FAO; coordinating with the CBD subregional technical and scientific cooperation support center for regional workshops; supporting the CBD national focal point in regional workshop preparations; developing and documenting case studies and training materials; and performing any other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a related discipline. Additionally, they should have at least five years of relevant experience in ecosystem restoration or forest monitoring. A working knowledge (level C) of English is required, and candidates must be nationals of the Philippines or legal residents with a valid work permit. FAO core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the position includes a University Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a related field. Experience:
