Job Overview:
The Project Manager for the Cash for Work Project will oversee the implementation of a two-year initiative aimed at creating approximately 6,000 short-term cash-for-work opportunities and maintaining and rehabilitating UNRWA installations, including schools and health clinics across the West Bank. The incumbent will report to the Program Coordinator and Evaluation Officer and supervise a team comprising three Assistant Project Officers, one Information Management Officer, and thirteen Field Monitors. The role requires ensuring the effective delivery of all project components, identifying potential issues related to budget and timelines, and recommending improvements. The Project Manager will also conduct monitoring visits to ensure compliance with donor agreements and project plans, implement communication strategies, and liaise with various UNRWA programs to ensure alignment with the agency's overall vision.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the cash-for-work project, ensuring timely delivery of job creation, shelter rehabilitation, and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to field locations to ensure compliance with project agreements and plans, reporting deviations and proposing corrective actions.
  • Implement the communication strategy for the project, ensuring visibility for UNRWA and its donors.
  • Collaborate with various UNRWA programs to ensure program complementarity and alignment with the agency's mission.
  • Lead project management and planning efforts, tracking results against targets and budgets, and reporting deviations to management.
  • Implement the established monitoring and evaluation framework to enhance reporting and learning.
  • Draft reports for internal and external stakeholders, including progress and ad-hoc reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited institution in business administration, management, political sciences, social sciences, international relations, communications, or other relevant disciplines. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of project management principles and practices, as well as experience in working with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is offered as a Limited Duration Contract (LDC), Band 'G', with an initial duration of one year, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and ongoing need for the position. The monthly basic salary for this role is JOD 1,569.2
  • Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave pro-rated to the duration of the contract, family allowance (if applicable), sick leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave, subject to eligibility requirements. The vacancy is open to both internal candidates holding LDC contracts and external candidates.
