Job Overview:
The Senior Reviser will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of translations for the United Nations, which deals with a wide range of sensitive and complex subjects. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Reviser will be responsible for revising translations across various subjects, ensuring they meet the required standards of accuracy and quality. This includes providing feedback to help other revisers improve their skills, translating texts independently, and drafting summary records. The role also involves utilizing language technologies effectively, identifying new terminology, and leading efforts to establish terminology standards. Quality control of externally produced translations is also a key responsibility, along with advising on the selection of texts for competitive examinations. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level degree from a recognized university or institution. They must have passed the relevant United Nations Competitive Examination for English Translators/Précis-Writers or the combined examination for English Translators, Editors, and Verbatim Reporters. This requirement may be waived for candidates who passed relevant examinations before 2017, subject to an assessment test. A strong command of English is essential, as it is the main language of the position, along with excellent knowledge of two other official UN languages.

Educational Background:
A first-level degree from a university or an equivalent institution is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be in a field related to languages, translation, or a relevant area that supports the functions of the role.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least ten years of experience in translation or a related language field, with a minimum of four years specifically in revision. It is desirable that at least eight of those ten years be within the United Nations Common System or similar international organizations, demonstrating familiarity with the UN's operational context and standards.

Languages:
A perfect command of English is mandatory, as it is the main language for this position. Additionally, candidates must have excellent knowledge of two other official UN languages, which will be assessed during the competitive examination process. Proficiency in multiple languages is highly valued and enhances the candidate's suitability for the role.
