Job Overview: The Development Director, School Engagement position is a pivotal role within the American Heart Association, focusing on building and maintaining relationships with K-12 schools in southern and central Maine. Duties and Responsibilities: The Development Director will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Recruitment and cultivation of school volunteers for K-12 partnerships with the AHA.
Developing and executing plans to meet revenue and volunteer recruitment goals, including securing sponsorships and donations.
Managing existing accounts and promoting the AHA's cause in schools, implementing programs like the Kids Heart Challenge.
Recruiting, training, and developing volunteers at various levels within the schools.
Establishing and maintaining strong customer service relations with school contacts.
Attending all mandated meetings and trainings.
Conducting summer cultivation activities with school administrators.
Visiting 5-10 schools daily, which may involve lifting and moving large objects, requiring reliable transportation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university or college degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for those with at least 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or a similar field. Strong marketing, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to analyze and forecast sales data. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in presentations and spreadsheets, is required. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and able to travel locally up to 75% of the time, with access to reliable transportation.
