Job Overview:
The UX Designer/Engineer position is integral to the Marketing Platforms team at Mercy Corps. This role is responsible for enhancing the online experience across all digital properties, including websites, emails, and landing pages. The UX Designer will develop user experience strategies and designs, ensuring that all materials align with Mercy Corps' brand and utilize the latest technologies and design techniques. The position also involves front-end development, where the designer will build and optimize public-facing websites, ensuring high performance and effective content management. The UX Designer will collaborate with various stakeholders to create engaging content and designs, utilizing CSS/HTML and other relevant programming languages. This role is crucial in maintaining the organization's digital presence and enhancing user engagement through innovative design solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UX Designer/Engineer will have a range of responsibilities, including: collaborating with the Marketing Platforms team and internal clients to develop innovative UX and UI strategies; mastering relevant software and programming languages such as PHP, CSS/HTML, MySQL, and JavaScript; staying updated on industry trends in online development; leveraging analytics for UX testing and improvements; implementing A/B tests in collaboration with the Digital Analyst; ensuring all designs adhere to Mercy Corps brand guidelines; participating in an Agile Scrum development team; coordinating with external design vendors; and performing other duties as assigned. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality user experiences.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Drupal coding. A minimum of 4 years of experience as a UX designer is required, with expertise in both information architecture and visual design. Experience in designing for mobile and adaptive environments is essential, along with a portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions. Familiarity with ecommerce and transactional websites is strongly preferred. Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and have experience in the design review process, collaborating with internal stakeholders to refine designs. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are also critical.
