Job Overview: The Individual Contractor - Mail and Sales Clerk position is crucial for the successful sale of philatelic products and the reproduction of personalized stamp sheets at the UNPA Sales Counter in Geneva. The contractor will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling sales transactions, and ensuring timely delivery of mail. This role requires a proactive approach to managing inventory, generating sales reports, and maintaining the display of products. Duties and Responsibilities: The contractor will perform a variety of duties under the supervision of the Supervisor of Mail Operations. Key responsibilities include:
Acting as a sales clerk at the UNPA Sales Counter and Personalized Stamp Shop, providing assistance to customers and answering queries.
Handling cash and credit card transactions, ensuring accurate banking of sales revenue.
Generating daily sales reports and submitting relevant monthly reports to Swiss Post regarding mail outs.
Processing and franking mails for postage, ensuring timely delivery to SAFI and the UNOG mailroom.
Maintaining proper stock levels through timely replenishment and conducting stock takes.
Setting up and operating photographic, computer, and printing equipment for the reproduction of personalized stamp sheets.
Liaising with the UNPA Office in Vienna and other relevant UNOG offices to follow up on customer requests.
Maintaining the display inventory and ensuring a professional presentation of products at the sales counter.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma and have some relevant work experience. A good knowledge of UNPA philatelic products is essential, along with manual skills for handling stamps and other related items. Experience with photography and printing equipment is required to effectively reproduce personalized stamp sheets. Professionalism, client-orientation, and accountability are critical attributes for this role. Additionally, a good understanding of postal rules and regulations, as well as knowledge of the UN's work, is desirable. Flexibility in handling various tasks and adapting to changing situations is also important.
