Job Overview:
The individual contractor will be responsible for translating the publication titled 'A Resource Guide on State Measures for Strengthening Business Integrity' into Arabic. This role is crucial in supporting the Thematic Support Section (TSS) of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch (CEB) in its efforts to implement projects focused on business integrity. The contractor will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Programme Coordinator for Anti-Corruption and Anti-Money Laundering at the UNODC Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, and will coordinate with the Business Integrity Team at TSS/CEB. The work will be conducted remotely, allowing for flexibility in the contractor's schedule while ensuring that the translation meets the high standards expected by UNODC. The contractor will engage with UNODC staff primarily through electronic means, receiving guidance and feedback throughout the translation process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The individual contractor will perform the following specific tasks:

• Translate the publication 'A Resource Guide on State Measures for Strengthening Business Integrity' into Arabic, ensuring accuracy and clarity in the translation.
• Present the draft translated version to the Business Integrity Team at TSS/CEB and the Regional Programme Coordinator for Anti-Corruption and Anti-Money Laundering for comments and approval.
• Incorporate feedback and corrections to produce the final version of the translated document in electronic format.
• Design the translated version to match the format of the original English publication, ensuring consistency in presentation and layout.
• Periodically report on progress and outcomes to the relevant UNODC staff, maintaining open lines of communication throughout the assignment.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in translation, language, literature, communication, or a closely related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in similar fields combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Previous experience in translation and interpretation work is essential, with a preference for candidates who have worked with reputable service providers and have prior experience with the United Nations. Excellent communication and drafting skills are mandatory, as the contractor will need to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively in both languages.

Educational Background:

Languages:
Fluency and proficiency in both oral and written English and Arabic are required for this position. As English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage. This linguistic capability is critical for effective communication and collaboration with UNODC staff and stakeholders throughout the translation process.
