Job Overview:
The Chauffeur position at UNFPA involves providing reliable and safe driving services for office officials and visitors, ensuring the maintenance and operational readiness of the assigned vehicle, and handling the distribution of mail and administrative documents. The role is crucial in supporting the operational efficiency of the UNFPA office in Niger. The Chauffeur will be responsible for driving officials and visitors discreetly and responsibly, maintaining the vehicle in good condition, and performing minor repairs as needed. Additionally, the Chauffeur will assist with administrative tasks such as document distribution and payment processing, contributing to the overall functioning of the office. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chauffeur will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Driving the assigned vehicle for office errands and field missions, ensuring safe and timely transportation for officials, visitors, and authorized partners.
  • Maintaining the vehicle's operational status by conducting regular checks and ensuring all necessary documents, such as insurance and registration, are up to date.
  • Keeping the vehicle clean and in good working order, including performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs as needed.
  • Distributing mail and administrative documents efficiently, ensuring timely communication within the office.
  • Assisting with photocopying and filing documents when required.
  • Handling payment of office bills (e.g., water, electricity, telephone) and liaising with banks for transactions.
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by UNFPA management to support office operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license (category B) and a minimum of a CEPE or CFEPD diploma. They should have at least two years of relevant professional experience as a chauffeur, demonstrating knowledge of protocol and courtesy. Candidates must be physically fit, possess good moral character, and have a solid geographical understanding of Niger. The ability to perform minor vehicle repairs is essential, and experience in similar roles within international organizations, particularly within the UN system, is an advantage. Candidates should also exhibit a commitment to ethical standards and a strong sense of responsibility.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a CEPE or CFEPD diploma, which signifies the completion of primary education. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid driver's license of category B, allowing them to operate the vehicle assigned to them.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a chauffeur role, preferably within an international organization.
