Job Overview: The Evidence Lead will be responsible for overseeing the Research and Evidence Facility (REF), which is a critical component of the Fund Management Unit (FMU) within the SRRPF. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the research and evidence generated align strategically with the fund's objectives and maintain high technical quality. The Evidence Lead will serve as the quality assurance focal point for all evidence outputs, promoting the use of research to influence policy and programming outcomes effectively. This position involves leading the design, development, and dissemination of the Fund’s annual research agenda, as well as creating a learning platform to facilitate knowledge sharing and advocacy efforts. The Evidence Lead will also be tasked with ensuring that the research outputs are impactful and relevant to the needs of the communities served by the fund.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Evidence Lead will be responsible for several key duties, including: leading the development and delivery of the REF’s annual research agenda; reviewing reports and managing the research database; serving as the quality backstop for all evidence and research outputs produced by the REF; developing and supervising a roster of experts and researchers in Sudan and the region, with a focus on local insights; overseeing the creation and management of the REF’s research and learning platform; organizing research events and coordinating communication activities to promote findings; liaising with external information management working groups related to the Sudan response; collaborating with the SRRPF’s Technical Assistance Facility to integrate best practices into research outputs; working closely with partner organizations to identify research gaps; supervising research and expert consultants; managing the REF budget; and leading external engagement activities to promote research findings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least 10 years of professional experience working with a research and evidence facility, preferably in the humanitarian, development, or peacebuilding sectors, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role. A Master’s or PhD in social sciences, focusing on humanitarian, development, conflict, or displacement studies is required. Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record in conducting and publishing high-quality field research, particularly in humanitarian and displacement contexts. Experience in linking research findings to policy and programming outcomes is essential, along with strong knowledge of the Sudan and East Africa region. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in public speaking and external engagement within the humanitarian sector, as well as strong coordination skills.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or PhD in social sciences, with a specific focus on areas such as humanitarian studies, development, conflict resolution, or displacement studies. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of the issues faced in the region and for effectively leading research initiatives that inform policy and programming.
Experience: The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically at least 10 years in relevant fields, with a strong emphasis on leadership roles. Candidates should have substantial experience working within research and evidence facilities, particularly in contexts related to humanitarian aid, development, or peacebuilding.
